A goods lift carries your loads vertically between several levels: floors, mezzanines… It reduces the movements and effort required of your teams, and helps you make better use of your production and storage space. Atlas Lift has been designing, manufacturing and installing goods lifts since the late 1960s. Our factory is in Saintes (Charente-Maritime).

Accompanied or unaccompanied?
This is the first question to ask.
- Unaccompanied goods lift: nobody travels with the load. These units, known as special-purpose lifts (EUP), fall under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC rather than the Lifts Directive. Their simple design requires little maintenance. See the industrial goods lift.
- Accompanied goods lift: an authorised user travels in the car with the load. A single person can therefore move the load, at a lower cost than with a goods passenger lift. Additional safety features are fitted: platform locking at each level, landing door locks interlocked with the position of the lift, and car lighting. An inspection body carries out an acceptance inspection before the lift is put into service. See the accompanied goods lift and what is inspected.
Our goods lift ranges
- Scissor goods lift: single, double or triple scissor, pit-mounted, platform accessible from all 4 sides, for all types of load.
- Column goods lift, EC series: long travel and compact platform. From 300 to 2,500 daN, up to 12 m travel. Single column fixed to a wall, or double column in a self-supporting shaft. Electro-hydraulic unit with 230 or 400 V three-phase power supply.
- Goods lift with trapdoor: the upper level remains clear after use. From 500 to 2,000 kg, 2 to 12 m travel, with platform-mounted or hinged trapdoors.
- Outdoor goods lift: fixed against a wall or on a self-supporting structure, independent of the building. If it is not possible to dig a pit, an access ramp is provided. Details on the industrial goods lift page.
- Large-capacity goods lift: over 20 tonnes, 10 x 5 m platform, so that your forklift trucks can be lifted too.
- Bespoke goods lift: for example, a 1,500 daN unit serving 3 levels of a mezzanine, with a 4.30 x 3.10 m platform and 8.30 m of travel, installed without a pit.
- Car lift: for moving vehicles from one level to another.
How do you choose your goods lift?
To study your project, we need to know:
- the load, platform dimensions and travel;
- the number of levels served and the access sides (up to 4, or through-loading);
- the installation: pit-mounted or floor-mounted, indoors or outdoors, against a wall or in a self-supporting shaft;
- the shaft and landing doors: mesh or sheet metal, manually or power-operated;
- the environment: ATEX zone, corrosive atmosphere (hot-dip galvanising).
Safety, installation and maintenance
Atlas Lift fits its goods lifts with electromechanical locks that hold the platform level during loading. The EC series adds dual hydraulic safety devices, a pressure relief valve and key-operated controls at each level. Our lifts are supplied with CE marking.
We support you from the design study through to maintenance: 3D integration and civil engineering drawings, installation, commissioning and maintenance contracts. In the event of a breakdown, our after-sales service sends you the parts or a technician. It also assists you with mandatory periodic inspections and compliance upgrades: see Installation and after-sales service.
We naturally work on all our own equipment, and also on lifts designed and built by other manufacturers: to this end, we offer an audit of your lift fleet.
Do you operate a goods lift? Before any work is carried out, you must ask the contractor for a safety study: this is a requirement of the French Labour Code. In the event of an incident, you could be held directly liable. Be very vigilant about compliance with safety procedures.
