In late October 2026, Atlas Lift commissioned a column goods lift with a metal shaft for bicycle storage on two levels. Designed, manufactured and installed by our own teams, it was assembled on site in two and a half days.
The requirement
At a multimodal transport hub, a local authority wanted to store bicycles on a mezzanine above the ground floor. It needed equipment able to lift the bicycles safely and to fit into an existing building: a mezzanine whose dimensions were already set, a roof structure and a beam close by, and a staircase alongside.
The Atlas Lift solution
Our design office designed a bespoke goods lift based on our EC series:
- a 2,000 × 1,700 mm platform in non-slip chequer plate, for a load of 300 kg;
- hydraulic lifting by means of a chain reeved over the head of the cylinder; the hydraulic cylinder is designed and manufactured by Atlas Lift;
- mechanical locking of the platform at the upper level, for safe loading and unloading;
- at each level, hold-to-run push-button controls with an emergency stop;
- a self-supporting metal shaft, 4.66 m high, painted grey RAL 7043;
- at each level, a double-leaf swing door with electrical locking: it only opens when the platform is at that level, and the lift only moves when the doors are closed;
- an access ramp on the ground floor, with a 10% gradient.
An installation completed in two and a half days
The client approved the drawings in early September. The lift and its shaft were then manufactured in our workshops in Saintes. On site, our installers fitted the complete unit from 26 to 28 October. The commissioning inspection, carried out on 28 October by an inspection body, found no anomalies.
