Designing equipment that lifts people to a height of more than 3 metres is first and foremost a matter of safety. It is also a field in which Atlas Lift has built up genuine expertise over many years: the certification of equipment covered by the Machinery Directive, and more specifically of equipment for lifting persons.

Why EC type-examination certification?
Equipment for lifting persons with a risk of falling from a height of more than 3 metres is among the machinery regarded as the most hazardous by the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC (Annex IV). Placing it on the market requires a more demanding certification procedure, which may involve an EC type-examination carried out by a notified body: the technical file and the equipment itself are then examined and approved by that body.
Expertise built up since the CEFAM days
When our company name was CEFAM and our brand was Fabrications Atlas, we were already well versed in these requirements: to certify a machine, its technical file and the machine itself had to be approved by an accredited body, such as Bureau Veritas or Apave.
Since then, we have kept pace with increasingly technical regulations. And they continue to evolve: the new European Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 will replace the Directive from January 2027.
From major industrial clients to SMEs
It is this expertise that enables us to supply this equipment to industry’s largest prime contractors, such as Airbus, the SNCF Group, the RATP Group, Arianespace and Naval Group, as well as to mid-sized companies and SMEs such as JST Transformateurs, Fountaine Pajot and TLM Cables.
Our lifting platforms, accompanied goods lifts and bespoke solutions for lifting persons are designed by our design office in compliance with these requirements.
None of this would be possible without the tremendous commitment of our teams. We are very proud of them!
